The Art of German Kuchen Baking

Hello fellow cake lovers and cookie monsters.

My name is Alicia, I am half German half Spanish and since April 2008 I live in Dublin.
In my last two years in Ireland I managed to get used to the Irish weather, driving on the "wrong" side of the road and to Irish food, however I really miss something very German: Kuchen
At my parents´ house in Germany every afternoon at around 4 o´clock we would gather in the kitchen and have a cup of coffee together with some home made cake (versunkener Apfelkuchen, gedeckter Apfelkuchen, Streuselkuchen, Erdbeerkuchen, Kreppel, Rahmkuchen, Bienenstich, Nussecken, Pflaumenkuchen....and many more).

I won´t have to miss these any longer because I have now started learning my mother´s recipes and sharing the art of German baking (in particular the outcome) with my Irish friends.

I will introduce some of these cake recipes on this site.
